Level 6

My series begins with an enduring flight of stairs, The use of colour focuses on what little vibrancy there is within the bleak stairwell. I used a downward angle to show the increasing feeling of isolation.

In this shot I focused on the feeling of entrapment. The bars have become corroded with age and their harsh, rigid nature contrasts well with the softness of the blurred lights in the background. I used a monochrome colour scheme to slowly bring forth the feeling of this place as I thought it worked well with the mundane feel of the carpark.

Here I start to branch out giving a bigger view of Wellington behind bars. I used a lower exposure to bring out the shadows of Level 6. I kept my monochrome setting as a reoccuring theme to reinforce the feeling of isolation and entrapment.

Here I had to break into one of the indoor levels of the carpark, It used to be a local gang hangout but has recently been abandoned. The light on the blurred bars suggests an exit while the darkened handrail leads to a locked door, a contrast in themes. Not a place you want to be late at night.

In this shot I wanted to show a hasty escape, I decided to keep the bars as a reoccurring theme as they can be seen as ominous in some of my previous shots, but here they are shown in a good light leading down the stairs, The feelings I feel here are generally safe as my friends and I use this way as a form of subtle escape.
